7.6 The Bells of Saint John review (SPOILER-FREE)

Plot: 4.5/5
Characters: 4.5/5
Enemies: 4/5
Effects: 4.5/5
Overall: 4.5/5

Plot: This episode was a fabulous opener for part two of the series. It's urban thriller story line was magnificent. In my opinion it was even better than 'The Angels Take Manhattan' and 'The Snowmen' because it focused on all elements rather than focusing mainly on one. The aliens in the wi-fi idea is a great one. The plot is that The doctor meets Clara again but realizes that something is not right about the internet.

Characters: The episode starts of with members of the public trying to access the internet and getting abducted by something (spoonheads) and then we see the screen of faces. Introduced straight after the pre-credits is Jenna-Louise Coleman's third Character Clara. Her character is different than her other two but a lot of the aspects are the same.

Enemies: The enemies in this episode are very hard to tell. You may think that Miss Kizlet (Celia Imre) is the enemy. The spoonheads are not in the episode for long although they are not exactly the enemies anyway. Making a re-appearance is The Great Intelligence. (Richard E. Grant)

Effects: There were a lot of effects in this episode although the one that stood out was the doctor driving up the shard in London. This episode had good effects which mostly consisted of internet shots and uploading shots.

Overall: I am going to have to end this review quickly so that I don't get abducted by my internet so all I am going to say is that I highly reccomend this episode!

7.X The Snowmen (SPOILER-FREE)

Plot: (4.5/5)
Characters: (4.5/5)
Enemies: (4.5/5)
Effects: (4.5/5)
Overall: (4.5/5)

Plot: A Victorian woman called Clara meets a man called the doctor who has a time machine. The doctor is upset after he lost his friends so he stays in London to get away from it all. While that is happening there is something lurking in the snow.

Characters: Clara is a Victorian barmaid/governess who meets the doctor at the beginning of the episode. Vastra and Jenny return again but this time with the Sontaran Strax. They help the doctor find out about the monsters hidden in the snow. Captain Latimer (Tom Ward) doesn't want to talk about his childrens nightmares.

Enemies: This episode has 5 star enemies played by the talented Richard E. Grant and Sir Ian McKellen. Grant plays the evil Dr. Simeon who is trying to take over with his evil machine. McKellen plays the great intelligence who creates snowmen to take over. My lone complaint is that they are very underused. The story focuses on Clara instead of the enemies.

Effects: Snow is all I have to say. This episode is full of snow. If you have seen the episode you will know why I am putting snow under the effects column. Not just snow but a snow governess.

Overall: This episode is marvelous. I highly reccomend it to anyone.

7.5 The Angels Take Manhattan (SPOILER-FREE)

Plot: 4.5/5
Characters: 4/5
Enemies: 4.5/5
Effects: 4/5
Overall: 4.25/5

Plot: This episode had a perfect plot and is definitely the strongest in the season so far. The crew reunite with the mysterious River Song to try and escape from the deadly weeping angels.

Characters: River Song returns disguised as a New York gangster called Melody Malone. Not to mention the collector Grayle who has collected a few weeping angels. The detective at the beginning is great and as always the main cast are perfect.

Enemies: The weeping angels come back in an even more epic story than the daleks got at the beginning of the season. They are scarier than ever in this episode as it shows you that they can be anything and be anywhere.

Effects: Time warps, paradoxes and giant statues. This episodes a a bunch of VFX that doctor who has never used before. The VFX is amazing and so is the real effects. The weeping angels also look fantastic.

Overall: This is a great episode and it's possibly the best in the first part of series 7. I very highly reccomend this episode.

7.4 The Power of Three (SPOILER-FREE... kind of)

Plot: 4/5
Characters: 4/5
Enemies: 3.5/5
Effects: 2.5/5
Overall: 3.5/5
Plot: This episode has a great plot but it's let down by all the other aspects. Amy and Rory are wondering if they want to live a normal life or keep travelling with the doctor. Not long after there is cubes everywhere. The doctor and the crew try to find out why they are there.

Characters: Brians return. Brian is back in this episode but the thing that sucks is that he's not in it for long. He is in it for about 15 minutes. The other character is Kate Stewart who is head of U.N.I.T and they are in charge of finding out about the cubes.

Enemies: Now this is the crap part, the only enemy is really dumb. A part from the evil doctor things which have about 1 minute of screen time the only enemy is the Shakri. {Spoiler Start} The Shari doesn't even appear, only a hologram of one. This was really disappointing because it didn't make them look scary at all {Spoiler End}

Effects: Not much apart from a few explosions and a 5 second space scene.

Overall: This episode does have a good plot and decent characters but the enemies and effects really let it down. I think you should watch it if you are a fan although if you are not you may as well just skip this episode.

7.3 A Town Called Mercy (SPOILER-FREE)

Plot: 4/5
Characters: 4/5
Enemies: 4/5
Effects: 4/5
Overall: 4/5

Plot: A Town Called Mercy is a western with a twist. The tardis crew arrive at a town called mercy which is getting stalked by an evil gunslinger (Andrew Brooke) who is after the doctor. But it's a different doctor (Kahler Jex, Adrian Scarborough) It's a fun episode which highlights something the who hasn't done in a while.

Characters: The towns residents are the new cast. The sheriff of the town (Isaac, Ben Browder) is worried about the town and is still hiding Jex from the Gunslinger. As I said Kahler Jex is the other doctor. The gunslinger wants him dead. The gunslinger is played by Andrew Brooke who is a robotic monster who wants  Jex gone. Sean Benedict plays a character who is also trying to help his town.

Enemies: All enemies have been mentioned in the character section to avoid spoilers.

Effects: Guns and explosions. The gunslinger has a robotic gun for an arm which he uses a lot. His gun creates explosions which is awesome. The town folk have guns and the doctor fights the gunslinger (not a spoiler because it's in the trailer) and there is an explosion there. But sadly there is no spaceships :(

Overall: This is a great episode which will definitely leave you entertained. Reccomended!

7.2 Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (SPOILER-FREE)

Plot: (3.5/5)
Characters: (4/5)
Enemies: (3.5/5)
Effects: (4.5/5)
Overall: (4/5)

Plot: I am one of the few people who actually enjoyed this episode. Not only was it an interesting story but it was also quite funny. It was in no way the best in the series but it definitely wasn't the worst. The doctor and his new gang find them self on a spaceship filled with the most precious cargo ever... dinosaurs! It's up to the doctor to stop the evil Solomon from selling them and to stop the ship from getting blown up.

Characters: In this episode the doctor brings together a lot of people (his gang) to help him stop the ship getting too close to Earth. First he meets Queen Nefertiti (Riann Steele) who is an Egyptian queen, then he meets John Riddell (Rupert Graves) who is a hunter and after that he (accidentally) meets Rory's dad Brian (Mark Williams) who is not very much help.

Enemies: First of all dinosaurs. The dinosaurs don't have much of a part in this episode sadly but when they are it is usually in a fight scene. The doctor, Rory and Brian get captured by two robots (Mitchell and Webb) who take them to the main villian Solomon. Solomon is an evil man who would sell anything he seen and he was trying to sell the dinosaurs for a lot of money. He is very evil and he will kill anything that gets in his way.

Effects: The dinosaurs appear sometimes as CGI although at some parts they are actual models. They look very creepy and I think they are very cool. Also in this episode are missiles and spaceships which are cool for the part they are in. In this episode there are explosions, not much but they are there.

Overall: Overall I really enjoyed this episode because the plot was fun, the characters were great, the enemies were good and the effects were brilliant. I reccomend this episode to anyone.

7.1 Asylum of the Daleks (SPOILER-FREE)

Plot: 4/5
Characters: 4/5
Enemies: 4.5/5
Effects: 4.5/5
Overall: 4.25/5

Plot: The series seven opener starts of with a bang. Asylum of the Daleks is the story of Amy and Rory's breakup which ends up leading them and the doctor to a dalek parliament. The Doctor, Amy and Rory have to go down to an asylum planet where all the daleks that went insane belong. They have to switch off a force field with help from crashed victim Oswin Oswald.

Characters: The usual characters appear (The Doctor, Amy and Rory) and in this episode there is a few more characters. As always the main characters are great. The new characters that is  centered is Oswin Oswald. Oswin is a character who has crash landed on the dalek asylum and has been living on it for a year by making souffles. She has a secret though which is revealed.

Enemies: The daleks are back and they are better than ever. After the horrible 'Victory of the Daleks' they have just been stupid. The colorful daleks was just a stupid idea. The good news is we will not be seeing any more of that crap. Asylum of the Daleks on has the normal bronze daleks, a white dalek and some new dark red daleks. In this episode the daleks are at their scariest. The daleks at the asylum are insane and they will kill anything. This episode really did make the daleks scary again.

Effects: BOOM! BANG! BAM! Asylum of the Daleks is one of the most explosive (if the not the most explosive) episode of the show ever. There is at least 10 explosions in the first twenty seconds of the episode. If you like the explosions you will like the creepy CGI dalek stalks that come out of the dalek puppets. This episodes effects are fantastic.

Overall: Asylum of the Daleks is not the best episode in the season but it is still really good. It has a clever plot, neat characters, great enemies and stunning effects. I reccomend this episode to any fan (especially a dalek fan.)
